Teen age is that phase of life when without your soliciting, your skin imperceptibly keeps on changing. If you develop scars during teen age, they will remain throughout your life and sap your self-confidence. During your teen years, the hormone production increases and hence more oil is produced. Hence teen skin care requires you to keep this factor in mind. If you already have an oily type of skin, the oil produced is much more than usual. It is better if you choose to eat foods that are cooked in olive oil, fish oil or natural oils like walnut or almond oils.
Due to this excessive production of oil, pimples are bound to appear but you should resist your temptation of "picking" the pimples. If you succumb to the temptation and pick the pimples, they will spread to the entire face and may also result in permanent scars.
One of the most important steps of teen skin care is to cleanse, tone and moisturize your skin twice a day. You should exfoliate the skin gently every week. You should not overdo any of these routines. You should limit the cleansing, toning and moisturizing to twice a day and exfoliation to a maximum of thrice a week. You should never forget to remove your makeup before you retire for bed.
You should never expose excessively to sun's UV rays because sun's rays generate free radicals that are harmful to the skin. These free radicals will cause wrinkle formation and premature aging. Hence you should use an appropriate sun screen lotion before venturing out in the sun.
You should eat only healthy foods that contain more of fiber diet and foods that contain antioxidants and essential fatty acids. You should keep away from junk foods, processed foods and sugar-laden foods. Exercises should form an integral part of your teen skin care routine. Blood circulation increases due to exercises and this enables good supply of essential nutrients to the skin.
